Kirinyaga County, Kenya – April 30, 2026

Amsha Africa Foundation, through its Africa Gigsters program, proudly participated in a Youth Training Program held in Kirinyaga County in partnership with Seth Njeri Foundation and the Kenya Employment Authority. The event brought together hundreds of young people for a day focused on empowerment, skills development, and access to meaningful opportunities.
The training was designed to address one of the most pressing challenges facing young people today—limited access to employment and sustainable income pathways. By bringing together key stakeholders, the program created a platform for knowledge sharing, mentorship, and practical guidance.
Addressing the Reality Facing Youth
Across many communities, young people continue to face high levels of unemployment and limited access to opportunities. While education remains important, it is often not enough on its own to guarantee employment.
The Kirinyaga training program sought to bridge this gap by equipping youth with the knowledge, skills, and mindset needed to navigate a changing economic landscape. Participants were encouraged to explore alternative pathways beyond traditional employment and to take proactive steps toward building their future.
Africa Gigsters: Bridging Skills and Opportunity
During the event, Africa Gigsters delivered an engaging session focused on unlocking opportunities in the digital economy. The program introduced participants to practical ways of earning income through freelancing and online work, emphasizing that opportunities are no longer limited by location.
Participants learned how everyday skills—such as writing, communication, design, and organization—can be transformed into income-generating activities. The session broke down the process into simple, actionable steps, making it clear that getting started does not require advanced technical knowledge or significant resources.
Africa Gigsters continues to play a critical role in connecting young people to opportunities by providing training, mentorship, and access to a supportive ecosystem that enables growth and sustainability.
Leveraging Technology as a Tool for Growth
As part of the session, participants were introduced to the role of technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) as tools that can enhance productivity and learning. Rather than focusing on technical complexity, the discussion highlighted practical ways AI can be used in everyday work—from writing and research to idea generation and task efficiency.
The message was clear: technology should not be feared, but embraced as an enabler of opportunity.
Encouraging a Shift in Mindset
Beyond skills and tools, a key focus of the training was mindset. Participants were encouraged to shift from waiting for opportunities to actively creating them. This involved taking initiative, starting small, and remaining consistent in their efforts.
The session emphasized that while challenges exist, young people have the ability to shape their own paths when equipped with the right knowledge and support systems.
A Collaborative Effort for Lasting Impact
The success of the Kirinyaga training program highlights the importance of partnerships in driving meaningful change. Through collaboration between Amsha Africa Foundation, Seth Njeri Foundation, and the Kenya Employment Authority, the initiative was able to reach and impact a large number of young people.
Such partnerships are essential in creating sustainable solutions that address the root causes of unemployment and economic vulnerability among youth.
Looking Ahead
Amsha Africa Foundation remains committed to empowering communities and creating pathways for growth and opportunity. Through programs like Africa Gigsters, the organization continues to support young people in building skills, accessing opportunities, and transforming their lives.
The Kirinyaga training is part of a broader vision to equip youth with practical tools for success and to foster a generation that is informed, resilient, and self-reliant.
